NOAC 2009 - Indiana University

August 1-6, 2009

Power of OneThe National Order of the Arrow Conference (NOAC) was held in Bloomington, Indiana at Indiana University this year. Over 7,000 Arrowmen were there from across the US. Some flew, most drove and a few might have even taken a boat to get there. It was simply amazing to see that many fellow Arrowmen in one place.

NOAC has lots of things for Arrowmen to do. There were classes, games, and shows every day. The classes at NOAC cover everything from leadership training to ceremonies and dancing. The training at NOAC is of world-class quality because it brings together the most knowledgeable individuals in their areas.

After classes, people traded patches, ate lunch, and just sat around and talked. FYI, that week people ate a lot of pizza. In fact, it’s rumored Bloomington Pizza chains sell more pies during one week of NOAC than during any single month of the year. Most of the pizza was eaten after the nightly shows. Why? Because everyone needs their midnight snacks. The NOAC shows were great! The first one even had smoke and fireworks! The games during the shows, like OA Sky Box, were sweet! The Sky Box is a game where a spot light shines on a random person and if you’re that person you get the best seat in the house. After the show it’s a race to your room and your computer to post pictures and email your friends about what they’re missing.

On Founders Day, there were tons of booths set up for Arrowmen to learn about all of the different lodges and even get some free stuff. (And believe me, the stuff was pretty nice!) Founders Day was the last day. That night was the closing show; this was the best show of the week. It was the culmination of the week long, running skit, known as The One. After the show, was pizza and packing time. The next day we finished packing and started the long trek home.

Still unpacking,
